26 Connections Exhibition

As part of the Bloomsbury Festival, my work is featured in an exhibition, ‘Human Kind’, organised by the writers’ group 26 and Barbican Young Poets, and curated by The Lettering Arts Trust.

‘Human Kind’ involves 13 poets, paired with artists, who interpret their words. I carved the word ‘be-come’, to reflect upon the cycle of parenting, where becoming a parent deepens empathy for one's own parents. I broke down the word to emphasize the ‘be-coming’ process, carving it upon a slate monolith sourced in Wales. The childlike and slightly uneven script mirrors the innocence and fragility of the theme.
